Fergo Down The Murray

Friday 20th Feb

My name is Fergo. I'm currently 14 years old and I plan on driving my 2003 Savage Snipe tinny, 2000 kilometres down the Murray River to raise money in support of Dolly's Dream.

Dolly’s Dream was created by Kate and Tick Everett following the shattering loss of their 14-year-old daughter, Dolly, to suicide, after ongoing bullying. Kate and Tick’s goal is to prevent other families walking this road. They want to change the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide, through education and direct support to young people and families. I have experienced firsthand what it’s like to be constantly bullied and talked about behind my back, and I am doing this so other kids don't have to endure what I have. The Murray River is Australia's longest river, at a length of approximately 2520 kilometres. The section from Yarrawonga to Goolwa is continuously navigable for nearly 2000 kilometres, making it the third longest navigable river globally, after the Amazon and Nile. The Murray River provides water to approximately 1.5 million households, as well as farms and other businesses along its length. This trip will take approximately 28 days, starting on the 27th March 2027, and I plan on raising $200,000.00 to help support the vital anti-bullying work Dolly’s Dream does in the community.
