Supporting Our Rural Kids: Drover Ag Goes Blue for Do It For Dolly Day

At Drover Ag, our work is fundamentally about connecting people across the Australian agricultural industry. But behind the farm managers, station hands, and machinery operators we place all over Australia, there are families raising the next generation of rural Australians. Today, our team is proud to stand together, wear blue, and throw our support behind Do It For Dolly Day.
Growing up in the bush is an incredible privilege, but it comes with challenges that city kids rarely have to navigate. Today, our thoughts are squarely with all the farm kids across our extensive network.
We see the resilience of the kids living on isolated stations, whose primary connection to their peers is through a computer screen. We recognise the quiet bravery of the teenagers packing their trunks and heading off to boarding school, navigating the massive emotional adjustment of living away from their families and the wide-open spaces they know. And we know firsthand the dedication of the kids (and the parents driving them!) who spend their weekends travelling hundreds of kilometers down dirt roads just to attend a sports carnival, go to pony club, or play a single game of footy.
These kids are tough, adaptable, and deeply capable—but they shouldn't have to be invincible.
Physical isolation can sometimes make the challenges of the digital world feel even heavier, and the devastating impacts of bullying can easily reach past the farm gate.
By supporting Do It For Dolly Day, Drover Ag wants to send a clear message to the rural kids in our network: you are never alone. We encourage all our clients, candidates, and the broader agricultural community to use today as a prompt to check in on the young people in your lives.
Take a moment to have those important conversations, promote kindness within your farm teams and communities, and let’s work together to ensure that no matter how remote their postcode is, every rural kid feels supported, connected, and safe.
Speak, even if your voice shakes.
